Secretary to the Chief Government whip of Parliament sacked!

ENEMIES WITHIN BY THE HOUR

(August 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) S.Liyanagama , Secretary to the Chief Government Whip of Parliament was sacked abruptly recently which is the current modus operandi of the Rajapaksa Government - make use and sack ’em all, one by one. Liyanagama started his career as an Asst. Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries when President Rajapaksa was Labour Minister and was a beneficiary of the Rajapakse Government was appointed as Secretary to the Chief Government Whip of Parliament in 2004 by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

As such he was the Secretary to the Chief Whip of Parliament Jeyaraj Fernandopulle. In 2005 after President Rajapaksa assumed duties he was also appointed the Secretary to the Ministry of Sports which position he continues to hold.

From 2005, until the date of his being sacked, he got his pension, his salary as Secretary to the CGW of Parliament and the salary as the Secretary to the Ministry of Sports.

Liyanagama was a Rajapaksa loyalist. He is disappointed that his successor without any qualifications has been appointed on a Cabinet paper.
