Special confab look into the needs of resettled persons –Devananda

(October 23, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A special conference was held on the head of the Social Services and Social Welfare Minister and EPDP Secretary General Douglas Devananda at the Jaffna Secretariat Conference hall to discuss regarding the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Jaffna natives and to look into their needs with the participation of the Ministers, who had arrived from Colombo to expedite development works in the Jaffna peninsula on the instruction made by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Northern Province Governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, Jaffna Government Agent K. Ganesh, Divisional Secretaries of Jaffna District, Heads of Departments and higher officer of Army and Navy participated in this meeting.

Minister Devananda in his key note speech said that this meeting was convened on the instruction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to expedite the resettlement activities of the IDPs of Jaffna natives released from the welfare centres of Vavuniya.

The Deputy Health Minister Vadivel Suresh addressing the meeting said that he is very happy to visit Jaffnaand work with Minister Douglas Devananda in the resettlement activities as Minister Devananda has all the best qualities of a man. He loves all with humanity without any discrimination of cast, creed and religion. He is a very efficient Minister who is striving for the welfare of the people with dedication. With his guidance we will be able to resettle the IDPs without any difficulties, Deputy Minister Vadivel Suresh added.

Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamamge, Jaffna Government Agent K. Ganesh, Northern Province Governor G.A. Chandrasiri and Divisional Secretaries put forward their suggestions too.
