(December 11, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) At a press conference yesterday SLFP M Wing Leader Mangala Samaraweera accused Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa of withholding information about attacks against journalists. Holding up an issue of Lankadeepa, in which Rajapaksa claims to have knowledge about the attacks, Samaraweera said that the Defence Secretary had admitted wrongdoing.
“If he had knowledge of attacks on journalists, why did he keep silent until now?” Samaraweera asked. “This is a very serious matter-it almost makes him an accomplice to the crime. This is clearly a violation of the laws of the land.” -Sri Lanka Guardian
