Armed gang attacks 3 houses in Kolonnawa

(January 15, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) An armed gang attacked three houses in Kolonnawa including the residence of the UNP Mayor of the Kolonnawa Urban Council Chithra Dias today. A person at the Mayor's residence said that the armed gang had come in three vehicles around 12.45am.

The second incident was when the residence of Provincial Council member K. A. Sunil was attacked by an armed gang. A shooting had also taken place, said police.

Meanwhile, a gang who had stormed the residence of Kolonnawa Urban Council member Janaka Naulla, had assaulted him.

Mr. Naulla sustained critical cut injuries in the attack carried out by the gang who were armed with T56 firearms and poles.

According to Dr. Prasad Ariyawansa, Director of the Accident Ward of the Colombo National Hospital, the UC member, who was admitted with cut injuries, has been taken to the operating theatre.

A high ranking police officer, commenting on the incident said that nine persons along with a van had been taken into custody in connection with the attacks.
