(March 09, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A fire broke out at the site of the Norochcholai thermal power plant in Kalpitiya early this morning.
According to police, the fire had broken out around 1am and had damaged some PVC pipes and rubber hoses.
The Kalpitiya police, the fire fighting unit of the Air Force camp at Palaviya, the Navy along with the staff at the site had brought the fire under control.
No casualties or injuries have been reported the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Kalpitiya police are investigating.
