We are fighting against deceit, injustice: Anoma Fonseka

(March 01, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) There is no place in the country where justice and truth reigns supreme, said Anoma Fonseka, wife of General Sarath Fonseka yesterday, while Arjuna Ranatunga expressed hope that people would, this time, elect gentlemen to parliament.

Joining them at a media briefing in Colombo, convened by the Democratic National Alliance (DNA), Vijitha Herath of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna said the DNA would be a challenge to corruption, fraud and tyrannical rule.

Views were expressed about the upcoming general election and the country's current political climate at the media briefing.

“We are fighting against deceit and injustice. I would like to ask the people of this country to show me one place in the country where there is justice and where truth is prominent.

“Our country is corrupted to such an extent. I hope that everyone will join us along this journey,” said Mrs. Fonseka.

Arjuna Ranatunga said that the media should request to visit the location where general Sarath Fonseka is being held.

“You can make a decision and inform the people of this country about this place. Thereafter, reveal the truth without speaking ill of anyone,

“Our hope and wish is that the people will be able to elect candidates who can be called gentlemen to the parliament,” said Ranatunga.

Vijitha Herath said that they were able to form the Alliance within a short period and within days, they had been able to submit nominations for districts all over the country.

“We consider this a victory of the people and a victory for General Sarath Fonseka.

“This alliance will be a challenge to corruption, a challenge to fraud and tyrannical rule. This Alliance will provide the leadership for the country's freedom, justice and equality in the future,” said Vijitha Herath.
