Minister Douglas Devananda bankroll Rupees to set up business in London

(October 23, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to reliable information, the paramilitary leader and government minister Douglas Devananda is said to be stretching his business wings to the United Kingdom.

A source close to Douglas Devananda said, the Minister has set up a supermarket business in Birmingham by bankrolling rupees to sterling pounds with the help of an estate agency business in the East London. The estate agency business is presently building hotels in the north of Sri Lanka.

The said supermarket is trading under the style of ‘Select Business’ is managed by the Douglas’s former parliamentarian and his associates currently on asylum in the UK.

The source confirming the news said, the proprietor of the estate agency business was formally supporting the LTTE and is now involved with the government of Sri Lanka to build hotels in the war ravaged north and east.

The said estate agency businessman is supposed to have acquired extensive lands in the north and east with the government’s BOI funding.

The said former MP of EPDP is the political advisor and speech writer for his leader Douglas Devananda.
