OUR GENERAL (Photos)

Supporters of jailed former army Chief Sarath Fonseka shout during a protest against the government in Kadawata, about 15 km (9 miles) from central Colombo, October 2, 2010. Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa upheld a military court ruling sentencing Fonseka to prison, meaning his wartime ally turned political arch-rival will lose his parliamentary seat. Rajapaksa's widely expected approval of the sentence is the latest reversal of fortune for the ex-general, who just over a year ago was lionised as a national hero for leading the army to victory over the Tamil Tiger separatists. The sign reads, "Is prison the trophy to an army commander who saved the country from terrorism?". Tell a Friend
