President knows he will have to face the ICJ

(October 04, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The President Mahinda Rajapakse at a meeting held at Bulathili Hall in Polonnaruva has said: ‘whilst I have redeemed the country and in the process of building unity many are planning to produce me before the International Court of Justice’. In his speech he went on to praise his effort to bring the country under one rule by defeating the LTTE outright.

Without mentioning anything about his failures in performing his duties to respect law and order and by not adhering to the international covenants Sri Lanka has subscribed to respect the international human rights and humanitarian rules he had limited his speech to his brutal victory by his rubble rousing speech in Pollonnaruwa.

The President did not mention anything that is implicating him under the International Law that may present him beforethe International Court of Justice for presiding over the country as the Commander in Chief of the armed forces to commit crimes against humanity.

Under Mahendra Percy Rajapakse’s Presidency rule many thousands of civilians, journalists and his political opponents were callously murdered to achieve his political objectives. The war that he executed against the LTTE disregarded all the fundamental international rules of conducting wars in civilian populated areas. Tell a Friend
