(December 09, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Despite of the Sri Lankan government’s propaganda to the contrary there are no confirmed reports of any progress in grating pardon to Razina Nafeek. Her file has now been placed in Saudi Kings office. If the king conforms her death sentence, Nafeek may me executed anytime.
Globally, there is a massive campaign to save her life. Women’s organizations and human rights organizations have rallied together in this call. Muslim human rights organizations are also openly calling for pardon for her.

Government of Sri Lankan has stated that Minister Rizad Badurdeen will visit Saudi to talk to the family of the deceased child to request them to pardon Nafeek this allowed in Saudi law. However, their appears to be no plans for such a visit as yet.

A Saudi observer said that delay can be dangerous and what ever that can be done should be done urgently
