Father, infant daughter share same coffin

(January 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A 38-year-old of Kandalama in Dambulla is taking his last journey in life today (Jan. 20), along with his daughter aged two-and-half-months, in the same coffin.

Both died when their trishaw was run over by a SLTB bus on the bund of Dambulla tank a few days ago.

The funeral for Gunatilake Herath and Malmi Sandaham takes place today at the Kandalama Cemetery.

Gunatilake’s wife Udeni Mangalika is in serious condition after the accident, which occurred as they were on their way to an astrologer to obtain an auspicious time for their daughter’s first haircut.

They also had a son aged over three years.

The driver of the bus has been arrested and remanded by courts.
