Uganda will stand by Sri Lanka in any adversity - President of Uganda

( April 06, 2012, Kampala, Sri Lanka Guardian) The delegation of Sri Lankan parliamentarians headed by Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management who are in Kampala, Uganda to participate in the Inter- Parliamentarians Sessions which commenced on 1st April, called on Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of Uganda.

The delegation comprising Minister of Plantations Mahinda Samarasinghe and Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody, also participated at the bilateral discussions on Political and Socio-Economic development of the two countries.

The delegates also made use of this opportunity to extend their gratitude on behalf of President, Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Sri Lankan Govt. for the support extended to Sri Lanka at the International Human Rights Committee sessions held in Geneva.

Making a statement from Kampala, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva stated that the Ugandan President has agreed to visit Sri Lanka in November this year, on a special invitation extended by President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Stating his opinion at this meeting, the President of Uganda also said that on account of Sri Lanka having maintained strong bonds and friendly relationships with the international community over a long period of time, the Govt. of Uganda will stand by Sri Lanka in any adversity.
