Dairy farmers bathe in milk as mark of protest

( May 02, 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Dairy farmers in Hatton today staged a protest as the private companies which purchase milk have refused to purchase their stocks. The farmers state that the private milk companies to which they sell

their stocks have refused to take more milk from the farmers because they have enough stocks.

The dairy farmers spilled milk on the streets and some bathed in it to show their desperate situation.

Due to various programmes initiated by the government more people have invested in dairy farming resulting in increased production of milk.
