Who are the Natural Tamil Leaders?

| by Gaja Lakshmi Paramasivam

( April 3, 2013, Melbourne, Sri Lanka Guardian) I write in response to the Sri Lanka Guardian report under the title ‘The Meaningless Resolution’ reported by Mr. Nelson S. Edirisinghe

Mr. Edirisinghe quotes ‘Douglas Devananda. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development and the Secretary General of Eelam People’s Democratic Party issuing a media release states; that the resolution adopted at the UNHRC against Sri Lanka doesn’t in anyway help solve the problem of political rights of the Tamil speaking people and if it is to be so, a conducive environment needs to be created where the Government, the political parties representing Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims and all the other political parties could work collectively’

The UNHRC Resolution is for the USA in which Sri Lanka gets a share one way or the other. One must not confuse that with the true energies that Sri Lanka is capable of. Taking the current Political Leadership of Tamils – which apparently is the TNA (Tamil National Alliance) and not EPDP which apparently is a minority party within the Ruling Sinhalese dominated coalition - one wonders as to who the political leader of Tamils would be if we showed independent status? Highly subjective systems need single individual who stands out above others. India needed it and Gandhi was that leader for those who believed in Natural Powers.

In Sri Lanka, the person who came closest to non-violent Political leadership by a Tamil was the Hon SJV Chelvanayagam. What he achieved through his life has not been deep enough to deliver independent status to Tamils. The deeper question is whether or not Tamils are truly independent as a community? Or more to the point – who is the truly independent Tamil leader in Sri Lanka – political or otherwise? We had Prabhakaran claiming Tamils as a community were independent and the single Individual opposition leadership of that claim – from the Sinhalese – the Hon Mahinda Rajapakse – defeated Prabhakaran – by hook or by crook. In turn, Prabhakaran’s side is reacting through Mr. Rajapakse’s parallels in the West. If that defeat were temporary – another Prabhakaran would have come forward by now – during the most difficult times for Tamils, known to us. Tamils could on the other hand be quietly developing another Gandhi. The development happens not through grand appointments and elections –but through quiet practice of bottom-up presentation of Truth. Even if there is one such Tamil, there is hope of independent governance through all those in whom such a person has placed her/himself. When it spreads to traditional Tamil areas – independence of Tamils is already realized. Others including the Government recognizing it is only a formality.

In his media release regarding an incident where the Police failed to act against those who attacked TNA supporters – Mr. Anandasangaree, the Secretary General of TULF says ‘It is a pity that every Tom Dick and Harry have found Kilinochchi as their grazing ground to make money by various means. People who lived in fear and tension for years are now not free but living with more fear and more tension. If the Government can’t stop this trend without any delay, not only Kilinochchi the entire Country may have to face national disasters. With the power of arms on one side and botheration of thugs on the other, what can we, who are committed to non-violence, do other than seeking the intervention of the supreme power.’

It is when we reach our bottom-most point that we tend to submit to God. Until then we tend to think we can do it ourselves – especially if we are mentally active including through hearsay. When the mind is still and the consciousness of the issue is high – we are open to Natural Powers of Truth. Once we are within the boundaries of Truth – we are truly safe and healthy. Such an environment is like a Research Lab where we make discoveries without outside interference.

Every problem comes with its opportunity. We need to surface that Truth and that Truth alone to identify the two sides of the issue as per the form particular to that environment. If we have already experienced the problem – then the opportunity is there for us to complete our experience pleasantly. If we have already experienced the opportunity – then unless we accept the problem at least mentally – we would tend to be reactive. During meditation / research – we would see this problem also but only to the extent it belongs to us through our enjoyment of opportunities. Within that Truth – we would always feel safe. Those of us who are fearful of ‘seeing’ the problem need to first bring into ourselves a subject with positive energy in this regard. Hence faith based following – including in political life. With that person as our support – the problem would not be difficult to face. So long as we do not take opportunities that are without the blessings of that leader – we would be protected by that leader’s investment. This is the core purpose of families and other institutions of faith – including the voting system in governance.

To the extent Prabhakaran and Mr. Rajapakse sought external assistance in Sri Lankan issues – outside Due Process and Official systems – they took the Sri Lankan problem beyond its local borders and did so prematurely. Thus they both created this international problem-in-waiting even while they and those who supported them experienced the opportunity. They would both experience the problem at varying times once the International Community loses interest in their side. This International Community includes Sri Lankans who have invested in global values and standards.

The Hon Douglas Devananda as well as Mr. Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan as part of the Government led politically by Mr. Rajapakse – would continue to experience problems from the International Community for this reason. Hence to complete their experience they both need to accept the UNHRC criticism to the extent they enjoyed opportunities due to external powers. Until they renounce violence – including in their minds – they would continue to show the power of the gun even in their local areas – confirming that they are not seeking Truth as their protective weapon. As part of the official government it is their duty to limit their protection to that of the official forces. In action they are saying that the official government cannot be trusted. To the extent they are part of the official government – they cannot be trusted.

Mr. Edirisinghe reports ‘In the statement, the Minister further points out that a mother bearing the labour pains herself has to deliver her child, and the outside help sought to solve our political rights problem is somewhat akin to the role played by a mid-wife in a child birth. He, therefore stresses that we ourselves should solve our, own problems through constructive dialogue’

When there are complications – the power of the mid-wife is likely to be a greater force than that of the biological mother. Under those circumstances - both mother and child are at risk of dying without the help of the mid-wife. To the extent the mid-wife studied midwifery and endured pain and hardship and likewise later when working as a midwife (as many in my local area in Northern Sri Lanka do) – that is also part of the pain of childbirth – experienced before serving the biological mother in labor. They are all mothers of that child. Similarly – those of us who have invested in Equal Opportunity principles and values in our respective environments and/or studied formally how that science works – are also experiencing the pain when our respective communities are experiencing difficulties to live in harmony and are attacked by each other.

Mr. Edirisinghe quotes ‘The Minister also states that we all together should prepare our road map for arriving at a home grown solution to the problems that crop up, how complex they may be, and in this regard it’s the bounden duty of every citizen who wish well to this country, to extend their fullest co-operation to the government. The Hon. Minster invites the TNA Parliamentarians to participate at the Parliamentary Select Committee to help government arrive at a political solution soon.’

Those of us who do not use weapons except to defend ourselves – have invested in the true path of Democracy. We are the Diplomats of the Citizens. Yet, the Administration of the official government is known to ignore our strength at various levels. It is important that the Government as well as Tamil Political leaders expressly recognize us as having practiced the official path above the level of the current Administration. Messengers of Truth are messengers of God. To the extent we are full of independence and therefore good governance – we would naturally share those qualities with all those who seek and / or accept our services. They are the ones needed by Sri Lanka to truly enjoy the opportunities of independence and good governance.

I learnt through my Australian experience that until we feel with the environment – we are not a natural life of the environment. Until we are natural life of that environment – we would not be able to naturally work that environment. Once we know the Truth about our environment and accept it for better or for worse – we are that environment. Hence Thou Art That. Until I kept expecting from Australians in positions higher than myself – to reward me for the work I had done – I was not a natural Australian. But by discovering their Truth through painful losses – and accepting that environment with all its limitations – I stopped expecting returns beyond that point but used the value of my work and sacrifice as ownership investment. I thus became a true fully fledged Australian – capable of naturally influencing Australia and what happens to Australia – through Natural Forces. . Since this was at global standards I became also a Natural Sri Lankan. When in areas where Tamils have majority power due to their belief – I become a fully fledged Tamil – and work the system naturally as per the higher common values of that area.

UNHRC Resolution, as is, means very little to the People of Jaffna. When leaders give form to the Truth of these folks through the language of the UNHRC principles – they would already be practicing global standards. There has been no block from the Government of Sri Lanka towards this. By the same token there has been very little contribution towards such education from Tamil Diaspora’s apparent leaders.
