An explosion has been reported in close proximity to the Dehiwela zoo a short while ago. At least two people have been killed in this blast, local sources said.
It is reported that the explosion had occurred at a lodge in the vicinity of the zoo.
The victims of the incident have been rushed to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital in order to receive treatment.
The amount of damages due to the explosion has not been identified as of yet.
However, the Dehiwela Zoo has been closed off following the explosion, Dammika Malsinghe, Director General of the Dehiwela Zoological Garden said.
