NCP which was the rice bowl is now a corrupt hole - Ranil

(August 14, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Addressing UNP election rallies in Anuradhapura , yesterday (13Aug) ,Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said, according to United Nations statistics , 18 % and 15 % of children in the Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura Districts respectively, are suffering from malnutrition. This situation has arisen because of the UPFA Govt. which has impoverished and undernourished the North Central Province (NCP), earlier called the rice bowl of Sri Lanka supplying rice to the entire country.

80 % of the 3000 irrigation tanks, bunds and sluice gates are under disrepair with no action taken and no money allocated to remedy the perilous position. The millions of rupees allocated for building ponds for collection of water to tide over the droughts , also ,only ended up as collection of funds for the wallets of some .This Govt. is only fattening the politicians and their wallets instead of strengthening the Forces and uplifting the living standards of the people, Ranil bemoaned.

Now, the time has come for the people to bravely act without fearing Govt.’s intimidation and violence, and give the verdict on 23rd August by defeating this corrupt inefficient administration at the polls.
