Anna‘s centenary!

– Thinakkural Editorial

(September 17, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Arignar Anna’s centenary is celebrated all over Tamil Nadu. The State government of Tamilnadu has declared it a public holiday. .

It was Annadurai, who contributed immensely to create sense Tamil patriotism in the minds of the Tamil people all over the world during the last century. He was a powerful speaker and writer who was loved not only by the Tamils in his country but also by the Tamils all over the world.

Today, a majority of Lankan Tamils honestly believe that the plight of Lankan Tamils will not be so pathetic, had Anna been alive today. This reflects the impact he had on the Lankan Tamils.

Anna, who became Chief Minister of TN, remained in office only for a brief period of less than 2 years. But, during this short period, he created history. He established healthy traditions in the political life of the Tamilnadu state.

Even Anna’s political opponents praised his leadership, his mind receptive to criticism.

Whatever, it is, today Anna’s centenary celebrations are held, while the Dravidian movements are crippled or are in a disarray.

Anna never gave priority to his family. But, his successors are criticized for fraud and corruption.
