Patriot journalist arrested with stolen LTTE goods - released under Lakshman Hullugalle's orders

(March 28, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) According to sources from Madawachchiya police, one of the reporters of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation have been arrested by the police while he was returning Colombo with stolen goods from LTTE camps. According to the report, Saman Kumara Ramawickrama, a defense reporter of the Wanni battle was arrested with five laptop computers and ten digital cameras that were stolen from LTTE military camps.

The SRC journalist, Saman Kumara, is a popular character among the Southern Sinhalese who are waiting for the updates on the Wanni battle.

Interestingly, in a bizarre turn of events, police in Madawachchiya have informed the Colombo - IGP office about the incident, and in return the IGP have informed Laksman Hulugalla, the Director of Media Center for National Security.

An embarrassed Hualugalla had demanded that the police release Saman Kumara without any investigation. Additionally, he sternly warned the police not to reveal the incident to media organizations.
