US Ambassador meets Sri Lankan Army Commander

(November 03, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ms. Patricia A Butenis called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya this afternoon (03) in his office at Army Headquarters, Colombo.

During her first official meeting with the Army Commander, Ms Butenis learnt more about Army’s involvement in North and East development work now being carried out by the government, and security updates in those areas.

The visiting US Ambassador who was concerned about humanitarian de-mining presently being carried out by the Army in many areas in north promised to provide further training in de-mining and necessary equipment to expedite the process.

After a cordial discussion on matters of bilateral interests, the visiting US ambassador signed the Visitors’ Book in Commander’s office, before leaving the Army Headquarters.
