Lankan female migrant workers harassed in Kuwait return

(December 16, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Forty-four Sri Lankan female migrant workers, harassed in Kuwait returned to the island earlier today. “These workers had been staying at the Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait for several months,” said L. K. Ruhunuge, Assistant General Manager of the Foreign Employment Bureau.

He emphasized that among those who had returned, was an individual who had not been in good health.

“This year alone 1,500 female migrant workers who were harassed in the Middle East were brought back to the island,” he said.
