KP on Action: "I'm working for Children whose parents were martyred for their homeland"

(October 25, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Rajapakaske regime's "very special" prisoner and the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam alias Selvarasa Pathmanathan KP, attended a ceremony in Kilinochchi recently where he gave books to school children. On the occasion KP said, "I started work now for our people. Especially we are helping to our children to gain good education."

Furthermore, he said, "We all have to care about children who lost their parents during the War with the Sri Lankan army. They were martyred for our homeland," he made the crucial comment during the speech, the Sri Lanka Guardian learns.

Meanwhile when Sri Lanka Guardian contacted Maj. Gen. Ubaya Madawela, the Army spokesperson regarding a recent news report that a Sri Lanka Army officer saluted KP during his visit to in Wanni. He said, "According to military tradition a senior officer must be saluted by a junior officer. But it is not true that any army officer has saluted KP." Tell a Friend
